Josh tried CrossFit for the first time in graduate school when a friend invited him to work out. It was a total change from the typical gym routine he was accustomed to. He loved the competition and variety that CrossFit offers and he's been hooked ever since. CrossFit changed not only his body, but also his
mindset and approach to life.

As a physical therapist, Josh uses a unique approach to coaching which incorporates all areas of his experience and education. Josh's ultimate goal is
to help people reach their potential and live a life that is full and complete through fitness.

Camille started working out at CrossFit Backward Arrow in the fall of 2016. Since that time, she has grown in many ways! 

As she became more involved in the community, she discovered that she wanted to help kids to discover how fun and exciting exercise could be and how it could improve their lives. 

Since she has become a coach at CFBA, her passion for training kids has grown even more. She has been able to train and positively influence the lives of many kids and continues to have the fire and passion to continue doing so to this day!

When she is not coaching our kid's class, Camille is a NICU nurse at Hendrick Medical Center (she does love kids!). There, her passion to help babies to get healthy and go home is on display regularly.

Thomas started ​working out at CFBA in the fall of 2016. During that time, Thomas was a different person. He was overweight, unhappy and unhealthy in many areas of his life. 

That is not at all how you would describe him today! He has changed drastically and now has the passion and desire to help others to change and meet their goals!

Since becoming a coach at CFBA, he has helped numerous people to reach their goals, whatever they may be! As a leader in this community he is the biggest and most constant encouragement you may find in our walls!

Thomas specializes in helping you to get the most out of your workouts to help you to reach your goals. He can always be found making recommendations to make yourself better and more efficient. 

Thomas coaches our 5:30 a.m. class and is the BEST way to start your day!

Walter Phillips

Walter started as a member at CrossFit Backward Arrow in fall of 2017. He was a student at Hardin-Simmons University and had decided to stop playing baseball. Walter knew that he needed a way to stay in shape. 

When he came to CFBA, he quickly started to see what it means to work hard at everything that you do. He started to pay attention to the details and that helped him to improve drastically!

He decided that he wanted to coach others and help them to improve the way that he had been improving. He has been coaching since the summer of 2019 and has been able to show many people the way to improve and exercise. 

Walter will graduate with his degree in physics from Hardin-Simmons University in the Spring of 2021. He coaches our 4:30 p.m. class and is amazing!

Blake started attending CrossFit Backward Arrow in an unusual way. He actually took a CrossFit class for college credit when he was a student at Hardin-Simmons University. During that class, he learned things that he did not know about exercise in the decade that he had been playing football!

After that class, he decided that he wanted to continue to improve his physical fitness. Blake had been carrying a good amount of weight for years as he played football for Hardin-Simmons. 

Over the next several months, he lost close to 60 pounds through improving his nutrition and hard work in group classes at the gym! Not only did his weight drop, but he was able to improve his physical strength as well! To this point, Blake has lost close to 80 pounds!

Blake decided that he wanted to lead and show others what hard work and consistent effort can do for them. Blake leads our 6:30 p.m. class and is the BEST way to end your day! His classes are full of energy and he has helped several people to see the results that they are wanting most!

Tara Curry

Tara started at CrossFit Backward Arrow before it was even a gym! She started working out in Josh's garage intermittently. She learned a lot and quickly started to see results that she had never dreamed of. 

Fast forward to today, Tara rarely misses a workout and is frequently shouting the loudest for her community members to finish workouts in the best way possible. 

Tara has a passion for nutrition! She has changed her own life through the power of healthy nutrition. Her primary goal is to help you to improve your own well-being with healthy nutrition and lifestyle habits. 

Carley started at CrossFit Backward Arrow in the fall of 2018. She was a student in Physician's Assistant school at Hardin-Simmons University. ​

Carley also played softball at Hardin-Simmons and needed a way to stay fit after her playing days were over. She has flourished in her own fitness and been able to continue to feed her competitive side while competing in local CrossFit competitions. 

Carley is a PA at a local neurosurgeon's office! She has an interesting perspective on spine care and exercise!

Carley has shown that she has a desire to help others to flourish as she has at CFBA. She helps to coach classes as needed to allow other CFBA coaches to refresh and refill at times when they need a rest.

Carley Willis

Sean started at CrossFit Backward Arrow in the spring of 2017. During that time, he worked to improve his fitness and started achieving his goals more and more consistently. 

As Sean grew, it became obvious that he would be a great leader within our community. He passed his certification and started coach's training at CFBA. 

During that time, Sean has flourished. He has been able to help a multitude of people to achieve their goals and be led to more and deeper abilities. 

Sean continues to bless the community of CFBA by leading class at 5:30 p.m. His excellent ability to form relationships and correct movement at the same time is top notch!
