Only the Best: Fruit
This week, we are talking about options that you can use for a snack or between meals. There are several ready made options that are delicious and healthy for you!
Today we are going to talk about fruit!
This is actually an easy one to talk about and most people are very excited to have fruit as a snack! The bottom line is fruit is a great way to have carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins and minerals added to your diet!

As we talked about with vegetables, fiber makes you feel full and keeps your blood sugar from spiking. Fruit can, however, have a larger effect on your blood sugar than vegetables. This is because there is naturally more sugar in most fruits than vegetables! This is also why people find them easier to palate than veggies!
While fruit is an excellent alternative to the processed, fake and chemically enhanced foods that are available, we still don't want to go crazy on our intake. Again, the higher sugar content can affect us more than other snacks with higher protein, fat and fiber makeup! In general, we should shoot for 2-4 servings of fruit in a day, if you make your snack one of those servings, you will be happy that you did!
One final tip for you concerning fruit...I recommend that people eat a piece of fruit about an hour before their workout. This form of simple carbohydrates is easy to digest, gives a nice rise in blood sugar for muscles to work well, makes you feel full without over filling so you can have a great workout!
